Santiago de Chile is situated in a green-fertile valley surrounded by the Andes beautiful snow-capped peaks, and the Chilean coast mountain range. Its location gives Santiago mild weather all year round. This trip will have you to explore the architectural historical sites such as La Plaza de Armas (main square), the colonial city centre, the Mercado Central (iconic for its delicious seafood food), the Metropolitan park with fantastic views over the city and Valparaíso, a picturesque small city, known for its colourful graffiti street art and its steep streets and old trams. Valparaíso was home to the most popular and renowned writer, Pablo Neruda.

ITINERARY

DAY 1
SANTIAGO DE CHILE / ARRIVAL DAY

Upon arrival in Santiago, your local driver will be waiting for you at the airport to assist you with your transfer to your hotel. After check-in into your hotel, enjoy time at your leisure.
At night, eat a delicious dinner at the Giratorio Restaurant (Revolving restaurant) while enjoying a night fantastic over the city.
OPTIONAL ACTIVITY:
* Gran Torre de Santiago: Visit the tallest building in Latin America. With its 300 metres of altitude, the Gran Torre offers spectacular 360º views over the city.
* Cerro Santa Lucia: small historical hill located in the middle of the city centre. Here is where Pedro de Valdivia found the city of Santiago de Chile in 1541.

DAY 2
SANTIAGO DE CHILE / CITY TOUR & WINE TASTING

After breakfast, enjoy an exciting tour through Santiago de Chile, explore the Barrio Cívico, the most emblematic constructions such as El Palacio de La Moneda, Plaza Consitución, Plaza de la Ciudadania, the Metropolitan Cathedral among others. Have a stroll through El Mercado Central, where locals and travellers mingle over a delicious seafood meal, and take a cable car ride up to Cerro San Cristobal for spectacular views over the city. End the day with a visit to a local vineyard to taste the most distinctive Chilean red wine, the Carmenere. Return to your hotel.

DAY 3
SANTIAGO DE CHILE / VALPARAISO TOUR

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel. You'll be picked up in your hotel to drive to the west to reach the city of hills, Valparaiso. Upon arrival, along with your local guide, explore this beautiful and charming colourful city, and enjoy a walk through its narrow streets while appreciating the street art. Take a tram ride up the hill while mingling with locals. Enjoy a delicious snack before returning to Santiago.

DAY 4
SANTIAGO DE CHILE / DEPARTURE DAY

After 4-wonderful days in the city of green valleys and snow-capped mountains, it is time to conclude the Santiago de Chile and Valparaiso Tour. We hope you'll join us again to explore another part of South America!

VISAS

HEALTH AND CERTIFICATIONS
Chile does not require any vaccination certificates from travellers to enter the country. However, travellers should stay up-to-date on their vaccines. Recommended vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, hepatitis A, B, typhoid, rabies and yellow fever vaccine.

SAFETY
Santiago de Chile is a safe city to walk around. However, it is still a large city. If you do find time to explore on your own, below are some key precautions to take:

Request a taxi service through the hotel staff. If you are more familiar with UBER which is available in the city, you can use the apps to call a UBER cab.
Wear your backpack/bag to the front when walking through bigger crowds.
Do not carry your wallet in the back pocket of your trousers.
Avoid wearing fancy jewellery.
Leave original documents, credit cards in the hotel safe box, taking the bare minimum of cash with you. It’s always a good idea to hide cash in different parts of your clothes.
A neck/waist money belt can be very handy to keep cash hidden.
In restaurant/cafes, do not hang your bag/backpack on the arm of the chairs or leave it sitting on the floor.
At night, always walk on well-lit streets.
Withdraw cash only during the day and from ATMs located inside banks or guarded ATMs.
Cover ATMs keyboard with one hand when typing your pin number.
Do not get into a car by someone’s invitation, even if it's a police car.

TRANSPORTATION
The radio-taxi system works well and is represented by black and yellow vehicles. We recommend ordering a taxi service through the hotel staff. If you prefer, you can also hail one from the street or use the UBER app. All radio taxis work with meters.
If you wish to experience Santiago's public transportation system, the easiest one to use is the tube/underground/subway system called Metro, available to reach most of the tourist areas. You can purchase a metro ticket on the go.
