This thrilling 14-day guided tour takes you through cityscapes, Patagonian steppes, beautiful mountains, impressive glaciers and challenging treks leaving you in awe of the region's surrounding scenery. From the peaks of Fitz Roy and Laguna Torre, to the challenging Torres del Paine W-Trek, to the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier and the End of the World, there is no shortage of things to see and do on this tour.

ITINERARY

DAY 1
BUENOS AIRES / ARRIVAL DAY

Our journey begins in Buenos Aires. This romantic city will be our starting and ending point on this trip and, here is where you can enjoy an aromatic glass of Malbec wine and taste the best steak.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. After a welcome meeting with your tour leader, enjoy an exciting walking tour through the romantic city of Buenos Aires.

DAY 2
BUENOS AIRES / EL CALAFATE / PERITO MORENO GLACIER

Upon arrival to EL Calafate, transfer to your hotel to drop your luggage. Tour the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier. Walk along the pathways to have scenic views of this fantastic mass of ice.
Return to the hotel.

Optional activity
Take a catamaran ride to explore closely one of the marvellous ice walls.

DAY 3
EL CALAFATE / TORRES DEL PAINE

Take an early morning transfer to Paine Grande Refugio (Torres del Paine). Before arriving, get off at the Argentine and Chilean border to complete border procedures. Along the journey, stop for a lunch break and enjoy a short spectacular sightseeing tour through the National Park and a catamaran crossing over Pehoe Lake.

DAY 4
TORRES DEL PAINE / GREY GLACIER

Enjoy a full day hike to grey glacier refugio while having fantastic views over Los Patos lake, icebergs and the Grey Lake. Take some time at the Grey refugio to take enjoy the fantastic views over the Grey Glacier and the mountainous landscape that surrounds the Grey refugio.

DAY 5
TORRES DEL PAINE / FRENCH VALLEY

After breakfast, begin hiking up to the Italiano Camping Site, following the path along the beautiful Lake Pehoe. From Campamento Italiano, continue the ascent through the French Valley up to the French Glacier Viewpoint. If weather permits, continue up to the lookout point of the British Camping Site. Spend time enjoying magnificent views of the peaks surrounding the French Valley and to eat lunch. Hike back to Campamento Frances to spend the night.

DAY 6
TORRES DEL PAINE / NORDENSKJOLD LAKE

Continue hiking on the W circuit. Hike towards Refugio Central through the Magellan forest, along the Nordenskjold lake while enjoying fabulous views over the turquoise water lake, the horns and the beautiful natural scenery.
Enjoy free time in the refugio Central, which has an outstanding view over the Towers of Paine.

DAY 7
TORRES DEL PAINE / LAS TORRES

Leave your belongings at Refugio Central/Norte for a hike up to the impressive Las Torres viewpoint. Begin the hike ascending to the pass through Ansencio Valley towards Refuge Chileno. Continue through the forest, over rocky trails and boulders up to the viewpoint for magnificent views of the granite giants. This is the perfect spot for a lunch break. Return through the same trail to the Central/North Refugio.

DAY 8
TORRES DEL PAINE / EL CHALTEN

After breakfast, on board of a private vehicle, make your way back to Argentina. After completing border procedures, carry on with your journey to El Chalten.

DAY 9
EL CHALTEN / FITZ ROY TRAIL

Take an early transfer to Rio Eléctrico to begin a guided hike to Laguna de Los Tres (Fitz Roy viewpoint). Along the way, enjoy stunning mountain views and memorable lookout points such as the white glacier view point. Carry on hiking by the Poincenot Camp before reaching the final spot the Laguna de Los Tres. At the lake, take a lunch break while enjoying beautiful views of the Fitz Roy peak, one of the most scenic peaks in the world. Hike back to El Chalten.

DAY 10
EL CHALTEN / LAGUNA TORRE TRAIL

After breakfast, begin a guided trek from El Chalten up to Laguna Torre, hike along the Fitz Roy River into a scenic valley and through the Patagonian Nothofagus forest before reaching Laguna Torre, where you will enjoy spectacular views of Cerro Torre and the Patagonian mountain range. Take a lunch break while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Take the same trail back to El Chalten.

DAY 11
EL CHALTEN / EL CALAFATE / USHUAIA

After breakfast, onboard a vehicle we will travel back to EL Calafate airport for your flight to the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. After arriving, you will be transferred to your hotel.

DAY 12
USHUAIA / TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK / MARTILLO ISLAND

Enjoy a fabulous exploration of the end of world National Park, Tierra del Fuego. Walk along the beagle channel, visit the end of world post office while learning about the Southernmost settlers that populated the Tierra del Fuego island.
In the afternoon, take a bus ride followed by a speed boat ride to reach the Martillo island to walk among the curious creatures, the penguins.

DAY 13
USHUAIA / EMERALD LAKE TREK

Enjoy an thrilling hike to the beautiful Laguna Esmeralda (Emerald lake). The hike takes around 6-7 hrs round trip. Along the way, enjoy astounding views of the low Andes and the Magellanic forest.

DAY 14
USHUAIA / DEPARTURE DAY

After concluding this magnificent 14-day trip to the pristine region of Patagonia, we hope you enjoyed your trip. And we hope to see you again.

VISAS
Please visit the relevant consular website of the countries you'll be visiting for more detailed and up-to-date visa information. If you need a visa, please obtain your visa in advance.

HEALTH AND CERTIFICATIONS
The Patagonia region is sprawled across two countries, Argentina and Chile. Both countries do not require any vaccination certificates from travelers to enter the country. However, travelers should stay up-to-date on their vaccines, especially when traveling through Misiones (Iguazu Falls), Formosa, Corrientes, El Chaco, Salta and Jujuy. Recommended vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, hepatitis A, B, typhoid, rabies and yellow fever vaccine.

SAFETY
All cities that you will be traveling through on this tour are very safe. If you do find time to explore on your own, below are some key precautions to take:

Argentinean Patagonia: Request a taxi service through the hotel staff. EASY TAXI and UBER are still fighting a long battle with the Argentinean authorities to operate in the country.
Chilean Patagonia: Uber operates freely in the following cities: Iquique, La Serena - Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitana (Santiago), Concepción, Temuco, Puerto Montt, Arica, Calama, Antofagasta, Copiapó, Ovalle, Rancagua, Talca, Valdivia, Osorno and Punta Arenas.
Wear your backpack/bag to the front when walking through bigger crowds.
Do not carry your wallet in the back pocket of your trousers.
Avoid wearing fancy jewellry.
Leave original documents, credit cards in the hotel safe box, taking the bare minimum of cash with you. It’s always a good idea to hide cash in different parts of your clothes.
A neck/waist money belt can be very handy to keep cash hidden.
In restaurant/cafes, do not hang your bag/backpack on the arm of the chairs or leave it sitting on the floor.
Always take note of the serial numbers of your larger bills (ie: 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Argentinean Pesos before paying taxi drivers and small shops. There were a few cases where travelers were told their bills were fake. By taking note of the serial numbers before use, you stand a better chance of getting your money back.
At night, always walk on well lit streets.
Withdraw cash only during the day and from ATMs located inside banks or guarded ATMs.
Cover ATMs keyboard with one hand when typing your pin number.
Do not get into a car by someone’s invitation, even if it's a police car.

TRANSPORTATION
The radio-taxi system works well and are represented by black and yellow vehicles in major cities. We recommend ordering a taxi service through the hotel staff. If you prefer, you can also hail one from the street. All radio taxis (black & yellow) work with meters. Avoid paying with large bills. If smaller notes are not available, pay careful attention to the number that stretches across the top right corner of every bill before handing it over to the driver. Some taxi drivers will try and swap your money with a fake note, but if you have know the number of the bill you just gave him, you will have a better chance of getting your money back. Large notes come in 200, 500 and 1,000 peso denominations.
