Climbing the highest mountain in the Southern and Western Hemispheres is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Located in the Andes Mountain Range, in the Mendoza Province, 70 miles northwest from the city of Mendoza (known for its award-winning Malbec wine), Aconcagua offers amazing treks, altitudes of up to 23,000 feet and unrivaled views of the top of the world. This 20 day expedition to the summit does not require previous rock or ice climbing experience. Choose between 2 routes and let the adventure begin!
* NOTE: This itinerary may change due to weather conditions and other circumstances, in which case, 2 days will be added to the trip in order to reach the summit without any additional cost to you, the client. This means the trip will end on Day 20 (departure day) instead of Day 18. **Travelers should be in good health and comfortable hiking and climbing for extended periods of time. Daily activities include ascents/descents on mountainous terrain, with some exposed sections.
There are 2 main climbing routes on Aconcagua to choose from: Normal Route and Polish Route. Difficulties encountered on both routes usually include low temperatures and the effects of altitude on your body. Low temperatures can best be handled with high quality clothing and equipment. Altitude sickness can be overcome through a proper acclimatization regimen both before (through training and diet programs) and during(through resting days and high altitude acclimatization treks) your expedition. Porters are included on both routes to help transport camping gear and equipment between camps. There are additional costs if you want to hire a porter to transport your personal belongings.
Wishing to climb the highest mountain on the American continent but don't have much time. Then take the 15-day Normal Route Aconcagua summit which includes, fewer resting days on the itinerary of the Normal route.
