ITINERARY
DAY 1
LA PAZ / ARRIVAL DAY
Welcome to La Paz, the highest capital city situated at more than 3,500m above sea level. A guide will assist you with your hotel transfer.
If this is your first time visiting high altitudes, take time to rest, drink water and don't walk fast. Sleep also helps with acclimatizing your body.

DAY 2
LA PAZ / CITY TOUR
Begin an exciting full-day city tour through the iconic and historical sites of La Paz. Walk through the mysterious Witches' Market, where you can find cure-alls, ointments, medicinal plants and most notably, dried llama fetuses. Then, tour the historical Murillo Square (home to old colonial buildings). Explore the maze of canyons and the giant spires at El Valle de La Luna (Moon Valley). Take a cable car up to the world's highest city, El Alto, situated at 4,070m above sea level. Return to your hotel.
DAY 3
LA PAZ / SUCRE
Head to the El Alto International Airport for your flight to Sucre, the first capital city of Bolivia. Begin an exciting tour of Sucre, known as the white city. Explore the general cemetery of Sucre. Marvel at the mini Eiffel tower designed by Gustave Eiffel. Visit the beautiful castle of Glorieta. Break briefly for lunch before finishing the day with a visit to the Cretaceous Park to learn about Bolivia's dinosaur era. Return to your hotel.
DAY 4
SUCRE / POTOSI
Go on a full-day tour of Potosi, home to Cerro Rico, one of the substantial mountains in silver during colonial times. Stop at the beautiful suspension bridge Puente Arce to take some scenic photos. Head to the mines of Potosi, where silver extraction once took place. Join a guided tour through the Casa de la Moneda museum, which houses coins, old machinery and tools for silver-making. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Fogon restaurant, where you can taste some special Bolivian delicacies.

DAY 5
SUCRE / UYUNI
Head to the airport for your flight to Uyuni, home to the world's largest salt lake. Take a guided tour of the train cemetery, a relic of train wagons forgotten in the middle of the harsh altiplano weather. Continue to the little town of Colchani before returning to your hotel, where you will have the rest of the evening at your leisure.
DAY 6
UYUNI / SALT FLATS TOUR
Onboard a 4x4 jeep. Begin an exciting full-day tour to the largest salt lake, Salar de Uyuni. Drive on the white-shining lake while enjoying outstanding views, take those longed awaited 3d photos and tour Incahuasi Island, home to Bolivia’s largest and oldest cactus plant. After lunch, make a couple more stops on the Salar de Uyuni (Salt Lake) before returning to your hotel.
DAY 7
UYUNI / LA PAZ
Head to the airport to take a flight back to La Paz. Upon arrival, a private transfer will take you to your hotel. Enjoy time at your leisure to explore a little more of La Paz.
DAY 8
LA PAZ / DEPARTURE DAY
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airport for your trip home, concluding your Bolivia Highlights Tour. We hope you'll join us again to explore another part of South America!

VISAS
Please visit the relevant consular website of the countries you'll be visiting for more detailed and up-to-date visa information. If you need a visa, please obtain your visa in advance.
HEALTH AND CERTIFICATIONS
We suggest keeping the International yellow fever certificate handy as it might be required by authorities upon entry to Bolivia. It's your responsibility to obtain the international Certificate for yellow fever at least 15 days before arrival.
Make sure you’re up-to-date on routine vaccines before every trip. These vaccines include the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot. CDC recommends this vaccine because you can get hepatitis A and typhoid through contaminated food or water in Bolivia, regardless of where you are eating or staying. CDC recommends this vaccine for most travellers, especially if you are visiting smaller cities or rural areas, or if you are an adventurous eater. If you have/had any pre-existing medical condition that might worsen your health and lead to more serious consequences, please consult your doctor.
Altitude Sickness
You'll be travelling in places where the altitude will fall above 3500 meters (11400 feet). At this altitude, regardless of age and fitness, it is very common for travellers to experience the effects of high altitude on your mind and body. To lessen these effects, there are certain actions you can take to help you acclimatize properly. Always stay hydrated, have a good rest, and don’t drink alcoholic beverages on the day of arrival. Be aware of the altitude effects during the trip, monitor your health and seek assistance when needed.
SAFETY
Robbery in major cities of Bolivia has increased in recent years (ie. La Paz, Santa Cruz), but there’s no need to worry. Most robberies occur when taking a street taxi or when walking through bigger crowds. You’ll spend most days on tour with a local guide.
If you do find time to explore on your own, below are some key precautions to take:
TRANSPORTATION
Bolivia does not have an organised taxi-system so taxis do not use meters. However, there is a fixed rate within the city perimeter. In La Paz, the taxi fare is 10 Bolivianos (USD 1.47). In Sucre, 5 Bolivianos (USD 0.74). If you take a taxi ride off the city perimeter, the fare will increase and be fixed on the spot by the taxi drivers.
We recommend ordering a taxi service through the hotel staff. If you prefer, you can also hail one from the street. Always use taxis that carry a radio-taxi sign. Avoid paying with large bills to ward off getting fake money as change.

- Wear your backpack/bag to the front when walking through bigger crowds.
- Do not carry your wallet in the back pocket of your trousers.
- Avoid wearing fancy jewellery.
- Leave original documents, credit cards in the hotel safe box, taking the bare minimum of cash with you. It’s always a good idea to hide cash in different parts of your clothes.
- A neck/waist money belt can be very handy to keep cash hidden.
- In restaurant/cafes, do not hang your bag/backpack on the arm of the chairs or leave it sitting on the floor.
- Always take note of the serial numbers of your bigger bills (ie: 100, 200, 500 Bolivianos) before paying taxi drivers and small shops. There were a few cases where travellers were told their bills were fake. By taking note of the serial number before use, you stand a better chance to get your money back.
- At night, always walk on well-lit streets.
- Withdraw cash only during the day and from ATMs located inside banks or guarded ATMs.
- Cover ATMs keyboard with one hand when typing your PIN.
- Do not get into a car by someone’s invitation, even if it’s a police car.
