Baltra Island /Puerto Ayora (Sta. Cruz Island) / Arrival day
Upon arrival to Baltra island’s airport, transfer to Baltra’s port to take a ferry over Itabaca channel to reach Santa Cruz Island. Take a ride through the highlands of Santa Cruz island, visit a private farm where you’ll enjoy a delicious local lunch. Take a walk through a beautiful natural environment while observing the giant Galapagos Tortoises and a diversity of birds species. Overnight in Puerto Ayora.
Pto. Ayora (Santa Cruz Island) – Pto. Villamil (Isabela Island)
Enjoy time at one of the most beautiful beaches of Galapagos on Tortuga Bay. Walk on the soft coral sand beach while spotting colonies of marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies and marine birds, as well as mangroves, cacti forest and interesting coastal flora. Take a 3-hours journey to Puerto Villamil situated on Isabela Island. Stay alert along the way to catch an eye of marine turtles, sting-rays, several species of marine birds and dolphins. Before reaching Isabela Island Tour the 4 Hermanos islets.
Pto. Villamil (Isabela Island)
On Isabela Island, on board a local boat, sail to “Las Tintoreras” islet. Habitat to numerous colonies of marine iguanas, sea lions, and white-tip reef sharks known in Spanish as Tintoreras. This is a great place to snorkel or simply to take a swim with playful sea lions, penguins and marine green turtles. Return to Puerto Ayora. Enjoy a delicious lunch before returning to the hotel.
Take a local bus to visit the giant tortoises breeding centre, Arnaldo Tupiza, where you’ll spot a few endemic species, and learn about the hard work done by the National Park to protect such species. Walkthrough a wetlands field, habitat to 4 species of mangroves, numerous species of birds, including flamingoes, lapwings and also marine iguanas.
Pto. Villamil (Isabela Island) – Puerto Ayora (Sta. Cruz Island)
Today, head back to Santa Cruz Island. A 3-hours journey will take us back to Puerto Ayora. Keep an eye opened along the way for marine turtles, sting-rays, several species of marine birds and dolphins.
Visit the breeding centre of giant tortoises, Fausto Llerena, where the embalmed body of the ancient and worldwide known Lonesome George Tortoise is exhibited. Take a short visit to the Charles Darwin museum. Explore the coastline of Santa Cruz island, habitat to playful sea lions, blue-footed and Nazca boobies. Visit the Germans Bay (“Bahía de Los Alemanes”), a paradisiac site where a walk will be organised to"Canal del Amor” (channel of love) and "Playa de Los Perros” (dogs’ beach) surrounded by dry forest and a rocky shoreline. At last, take a swim in Las Grietas (The Cracks). We’ll return to our hotel where we’ll enjoy a farewell dinner.
Puerto Ayora (Sta. Cruz Island) / Baltra / Departure day
Before heading to Baltra's airport, visit the natural formation known as the Craters "Los Gemelos” (the twins). The craters area has its microclimate and it’s surrounded by a Scalesia forest which is the habitat for bromeliads, orchids, moss, lichens and many species of birds (scarlet flycatchers, Darwin’s finches and short-eared owls). Continue the journey to Itabaca Channel, take a ferry across, then a bus transfer to Baltra's airport. Your local guide will help you to find the airline’s counter.
